Direction

Ensuring immigrants have a high quality of life

CLIP’s Guiding principles

What CLIP does: CLIP works across sectors, organizations, and service systems to improve local capacity to welcome and support newcomers. In simple terms, CLIP brings different groups together to make life better for immigrants in Calgary. CLIP uses research and community feedback to find out what's needed and then work to make those changes happen.

Result we want to see: Immigrants in Calgary have a high quality of life.

By this we mean:

  • Immigrants in Calgary are economically well.

  • Immigrants in Calgary are physically and emotionally well.

  • Immigrants in Calgary are proficient in English/French.

  • Immigrants in Calgary are fully engaged in all aspects of community life.

Using this approach:

  • Collective impact through collaboration and shared action

  • Focus on systems change and transformation.

  • Commitment to equity and anti-racism.

  • Community engagement and community-based research.

  • Information sharing, knowledge mobilization, connection and collaboration.

2025 - 2026 CLIP Strategic Plan

Strategic Direction: Mainstream Capacity Building (Mental Health & Sport)

To maximize impact, CLIP will focus on strengthening mainstream capacity to better serve newcomers in two key areas:

Mental Health (Primary Focus)

  • Upon completion of Habitus’ research, define clear action steps and establish action teams.

  • Strengthen information sharing, knowledge mobilization, and network development.

  • Improve access to mental health resources and support for newcomers.

Sport (Exploratory Phase)

  • Continue engaging the sector to determine needs and CLIP’s potential role.

  • Delay major capacity-building initiatives until a clearer understanding is established.

CLIP Council: Emerging Issues and Action Team Support

  • Emerging Issue: Addressing Anti-Immigration Sentiment.
