CLIP FINANCIAL WELLNESS FAIR 2021

The 3rd annual CLIP Financial Wellness Fair took place on Thursday, November 25th, 2021 over Zoom. Participants learned how to better manage their money and plan for their future needs like buying a home and starting their investing journey. Tell us how we did HERE.

How to Feel Good About Your Emergency Fund - This session will help you learn ways to better manage your expenses and save for your emergency fund. Details that will be highlighted include: what is an emergency fund? how emergency savings are meant to be spent? how to start saving money for an emergency fund? Presented by Liz Wong from Momentum. Understanding Your Canadian Job Offer - This session will help you learn important components of your job offer, the Alberta Employment Standards related to overtime, payroll deductions, COVID-19 and more, as well as, key employment standards. Presented by Michelle Cariou from Shaw Communications. Watch this presentation.

Buying A House - This session will help you learn about the way, and consider all the steps needed, to buy a home.  Information about buying a house that will be in the session includes: financial readiness, the roles of professionals in buying a home, mortgage pre-approval & the search for a home, making an offer to buy, home buyer’s timeline, final mortgage approval, and lastly, closing the sale of a home using the proper legal documents. Frauds and Scams & Multi-level Marketing - This session will help you learn how to identify financial scams and how to protect yourself. Details about investments that will be highlighted include: key investment terms, types of investments, the “Fraudster’s Playbook”, common scams and red flags and how to report an investment scam.
