In their own words, these are our newcomer stories!

It expands our workforce, supports our tax base, drives innovation, and grows our economy. Sectors like childcare, healthcare, construction, and agriculture rely on it. Immigration is a pipeline of human capital that brings us prosperity, cultural enrichment, and a stronger future.

IMMIGRATION MAKES GOOD THINGS HAPPEN

It supports essential services, helps fill the skills gap, and is fundamental to Calgary’s success as a community and as a centre of industry. Our cultural wealth is enriched by the diverse cuisines, traditions, and perspectives that is brings.

The benefits to our quality of life are backed up by the data. For example, we may not think of immigration as a source of job creation but more than 250,000 self-employed immigrants prove that assumption wrong. One in four healthcare workers are here because of immigration as well as 100% of labour force growth. Almost 63% of immigrants are middle income or above and 46% of recent immigrants have a university degree.

An unmistakable source of positive energy, cultural vitality, and economic opportunity – immigration is something to be celebrated. Overall, it makes us healthier, more capable, and prosperous. Click on the boxes below to learn more.
