Welcoming Week
Join us from Sept. 12-21 in celebrating communities who are working to be more welcoming places for all.
Welcoming Week is an annual campaign that celebrates the work in communities to become welcoming places for all, including immigrants. This year’s theme, Stories We Share, invites us to celebrate our differences and discover what we have in common.
From cultural gatherings to everyday conversations, Calgarians are creating spaces where everyone feels seen, supported, and valued. Welcoming is part of who we are. Join us in creating spaces where everyone belongs.
How you can participate
Inform and Educate
Immigration does Calgary a world of good. Spread the word about how virtually all parts of our economy including energy and technology benefit from the brain-gain and people-power that immigration provides. Sectors like childcare, healthcare, construction, and agriculture rely on it. Immigration is a pipeline of human capital that brings us prosperity, cultural enrichment, and a stronger future. Learn why immigration matters to Calgary.
Build connections and understanding
Share stories and photos about how you are creating a welcoming place for everyone including newcomers. Check out this great toolkit to help with social media posts, hosting events and posters.
